seasonal giving

At MilesAhead, we believe that you should give back to others whenever possible. That is why our team chose to donate to three different charities this holiday season — in lieu of client gifts. The three chosen charities were St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Puerto Rico Relief Fund, and Doctors Without Borders. Also, we find giving an important part of our company — not just during the holiday season. That is why we are continuous partners with an organization near and dear to us, Huru International.

Read below to learn more about these organizations.

St. Jude children’s research hospital

Finding Cures. Saving Children. That is the motto of St. Jude’s, a fantastic children’s hospital located in Memphis, TN. The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.

Not only is this organization an incredible one for its work in saving children, but it is also near and dear to our team’s hearts. The younger brother of one of our team members had Acute Myeloid Leukemia when he was just four years old — and was saved by the work of St. Jude. Feel free to take a look at the video to see Grace’s brother raising money for the Thanks and Giving fundraising campaign.

Doctors without borders

Doctors without Borders is an international humanitarian medical organization known for its projects in conflict zones and in countries affected by endemic diseases. As a travel company, it is important to recognize and advocate for the parts of the world that are not tourist hot - spots. That is why the work of Doctors Without Borders is so important, and an organization that we strongly advocate for.

UNIDOS - A Puerto Rico Disaster relief and recovery fund

On September 20th, 2017, everything changed for Puerto Rico. A hurricane of unprecedented strength destroyed much of the island, leaving the great majority of Puerto Ricans without power, water, communications and access to food. In response to the immense devastation created by Hurricane Maria, the Hispanic Federation convened government, community, philanthropic institutions and leaders to create the UNIDOS Disaster Relief and Recovery Program. The goal of our UNIDOS Program is to serve the immediate and long-term needs of families and communities in Puerto Rico and thus is a cause we strongly support.
